An IT Support Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of an organization’s information technology systems. This role involves providing technical assistance and support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues, and maintaining the overall functionality of IT infrastructure. The IT Support Engineer works closely with the IT team, helping to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, implement solutions, and ensure a high level of user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to user inquiries and provide technical support via various channels, such as phone, email, or in person.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, guiding users through step-by-step solutions.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on IT equipment, ensuring optimal performance and identifying potential issues.
  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and maintenance of network devices such as routers, switches, and access points.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and implement solutions to ensure a stable and secure network environment.
  • Provide basic system administration tasks, such as user account management, permissions, and system backups.
  • Monitor system performance and take proactive measures to address potential issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation for IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Keep records of hardware and software inventory.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to implement and support IT projects.
  • Liaise with external vendors for support and issue resolution.
  • Assist in implementing and enforcing IT security policies.
  • Participate in security audits and respond to security incidents as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions for end-users on IT tools and best practices.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues to enhance the overall expertise of the IT team.

Education Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in IT support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
